Melbourne-based quintet The Stroppies are an ambivalent supergroup of sorts. Consisting of members from Dick Diver, The Stevens and Boomgates, their minimal take on wonky slacker-pop certainly lives up to their namesake. Having recently signed with British tastemaker label Tough Love Records (home to the early works of Protomartyr, Ulrika Spacek and Girls Names to mention a few), The Stroppies brand new A-side 'Maddest Moments' is an outpouring of social anxiety, delivered in the coolest way possible. 'Maddest Moments' channels the Velvet Underground's no-frills, gritty guitar drones paired with post-punky group vocals and simplistic drumming, before trailing off into an oddly twee synth line, which sees out the track.
